The Woodblock Printing Museum is situated inside the serene Myeongjusa Temple in Muran-gil, Sillim-myeon. Museum Director Han Seon-hak, who is also the abbot of the temple, has collected prints from all over the world for a long time, and currently owns more than 4,000 pieces of woodblocks and prints. The exhibits of the museum are part of his collection, which are displayed with different themes. Here, visitors can appreciate ancient prints from China, Japan, Mongolia, Tibet, India, and Nepal, as well as Korean prints created by court painters, Buddhist artists, and the literati.

  • Operating hours: 10:00-19:00 in summer/ 10:00-17:00 in winter
  • Admission fee: KRW 5,000 for adults/ KRW 4,000 for students/ KRW 3,000 for preschoolers
  • Printing experience: Each visitor can make one print as a general rule.

tip. Printing School in the Woods

1-day course

  • Woodblock making (carving and printing): KRW 15,000 (1 hour 30 minutes)
  • Making a traditional book (editing prints): KRW 15,000 (1 hour)
  • Traditional pattern printing (carving and printing): KRW 5,000 (30 minutes)

Temple stay (group of 20 or more)

  • KRW 60,000 per person/ 1-night stay and 3 meals/ 2nd and 4th Saturdays and Sundays of each month (2D1N program)
  • Participants can experience traditional printing following the course of the Printing School in the Woods, as well as nature and traditional culture and meditation while staying in the mountain temple and hanok-style log cabins.
